Rose was born Aug. 1, 1947, to Tony and Juanita Perea in the Pagosa region. She grew up in Pagosa and attended Pagosa public schools, graduating in 1966. Two wonderful sons came in to her life, Tony and Daniel Perea, whom she raised in Pagosa.

She worked at the Elkhorn Restaurant — she knew everybody and everyone loved Rose! She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as the president and was a strong advocate.

Rose loved her flower gardens, helped organize her many past class reunions, but most of all, loved her family and close friends. Rose was a gifted, authentic cook and taught many to make delicious tortillas.

She is survived by her sons, Tony Perea and Daniel (Kanaka) Perea; grandchildren Kasey, McKenzie and Makayla Perea; sister Alice Martinez; and nieces Juanita and Loretta.

She is preceded in death by her parents and numerous aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Legion Auxiliary in Pagosa Springs.
