The American Legion Auxiliary, Post 108, has awarded LaShae Smith, graduating senior of Pagosa Springs High School, the Gold Star Mother Memorial Scholarship.

Smith is in the top 10 percent in her graduating class and carries a 4.0 grade-point average. Her ambition is to be an attorney. She will be attending Williamette University in Salem, Ore., to study pre-law.
