Moratorium set for new town marijuana licenses

At its meeting on April 21, the Pagosa Springs Town Council approved the first reading of a proposed ordinance, imposing a moratorium until next September on new retail marijuana license applications.

Council’s action was foreshadowed by discussion during its meeting on April 6. During that session, licenses for recreational marijuana sales were granted to two applicants. Each applicant acknowledged to council inability at the time of beginning business operations to meet a 70-percent “local grow” requirement contained in the town ordinance authorizing marijuana businesses.
