The Earth Community had much enthusiasm about planning a big Earth Day celebration. Then we met with people who tried to hold Earth Day activities in Pagosa in the past and heard “horror stories” about snow, hail, sleet and rain that made us shiver. And, then, remembering from childhood, “April showers (or snow in Colorado) bring May flowers.”
This dampened our enthusiasm for using Town Park and left us questioning what to do. Unfortunately, the youth center is no longer available and other indoor venues were already booked. Fortunately, other groups in Pagosa, thanks to SOS, are planning events for an entire Earth Week, so there will be many opportunities to celebrate our planet.
