Snowpack drops below average in early spring

Snowpack in the San Juan Basin didn’t fall below average until the end of February, according to data from the National Resource Conservation Service (NRCS).

Archuleta County accounts for the northeast corner of the San Juan Basin, the eastern edge being the Continental Divide. The basin stretches further west than Cortez, and south to include a large part of northeast of New Mexico.
