The San Juan Basin Health Department (SJBHD) recommends that every private well used for drinking water be tested.
Thousands of households in southwest Colorado receive their drinking water from a private well and, because private wells are not regulated in Colorado, the responsibility of ensuring their safety falls to the well’s user.
