The deep baritone voice of Chris Olivarez over KWUF radio’s airwaves has been a constant for the Pagosa Springs community for nearly 21 years. From broadcasting the local news during the week to sportscasting live events across the state on the weekend, his familiar voice has become an essential part of the everyday lives of Pagosans.

In January, Olivarez was named Citizen of the Year by the Pagosa Springs Area Chamber of Commerce for his work in high school sportscasting, an honor that was both humbling and completely unexpected for the local radio personality.
