Spruce beetle continues to be Colorado’s most damaging forest insect

For the past 15 years, the Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS), in partnership with the USDA Forest Service and the Colorado State University Warner College of Natural Resources, has monitored and reported on the health of Colorado’s forests.

The primary tool to measure the forest health is the annual aerial forest health survey, which provides data that forest managers can use to track trends and take action against damaging forest pests.
