The San Juan Stargazers will hold a regular educational meeting on Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Visitor Center conference room, at 7 p.m. It is located on Hot Springs Boulevard and the San Juan River. There will be coffee and snacks.
It is amazing to think that galaxies are situated in groups. Our Milky Way is in the local group, which seems like a very appropriate name. The local group is in the Virgo supercluster of galaxies. We will be learning about both of these galaxy groups. I think this meeting will be mind-boggling.
If you want to broaden your perspective on life, you will want to attend this lecture and discussion.
We will also have the official 2016 CRIA Astronomy Program and Star Party Calendars to look over and critique. We will discuss a few changes for next summer.
If you have an interest in astronomy and would like to learn how to use a telescope, we can teach you on one of the Chimney Rock Interpretive Association-owned telescopes. There is plenty of time this winter to get ready for next summer’s viewing. Or, we can help you figure out your own telescope.
