With the snowstorm of the past two weeks, residents and business owners are reminded of proper snow-related etiquette and responsibilities within the Town of Pagosa Springs.
The town plows 30 miles of streets and roads each time there is a winter storm, and has asked for everyone’s cooperation so proper and efficient street maintenance can be accomplished. The goal is to provide snow removal in a timely manner to facilitate a safe flow of traffic for drivers and pedestrians.
Keep in mind, the town’s streets department may not be able to plow or sand roads at the same time each day, or even on the same day of the storm, depending on the severity and timing of the storm.
Citizens need to be aware of snow routes. Parking problems are compounded by winter snow and a little extra care should be taken to avoid them.
According to the map provided by the town, the following streets are designated as snow routes: 5th Street south of Apache; Apache Street from 10th Street, to Hot Springs Boulevard; Hot Springs, 6th, 8th and 10th streets, from Apache to U.S. 160; Piedra Street from 8th to 10th streets; all of North 5th and 6th streets; Lewis Street from U.S. 160 to 2nd Street; and 2nd and 3rd streets from Lewis to U.S. 160.
The town’s map makes no mention of any snow routes in the uptown area of Pagosa Springs.
