The U.S. National Weather Service
has announced a winter weather advisory remains in effect from noon today until midnight for the San Juan River Basin

Locations include Cortez, Dove Creek, Mancos, Durango, Bayfield, Ignacio and Pagosa Springs and vicinity.

Scattered snow showers will spread eastward across the Four Corners area this morning becoming widespread and heavy at times around noon. Snow will continue through the afternoon and into the evening.

Snow accumulation will be 3 to 6 inches with locally higher amounts in the foothill areas of the San Juan Mountains.

Winds will be southwest 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph shifting west and decreasing this evening. Gusty winds will create areas of blowing and drifting snow.

Travelers can expect icy and snow packed roads. A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow and/or

blowing snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
