obit-fahrion-picBetty Fahrion passed away peacefully on Dec. 1 in Pagosa Springs.

Betty was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Flagstaff, Ariz., to Bob and Bessie Patton. The family moved to Ignacio in the 1930s. Betty attended school in Bayfield where she graduated as valedictorian in 1946. She married Don Fahrion on Sept. 9, 1949, in Tierra Amarilla, N.M.; they had five children.

Betty was a long-time bookkeeper/accountant for many local companies until she retired in 2009. A wonderful cook who loved gardening and embroidery, Betty never met a stranger and was a loyal friend to many. Her love of horses and the western life lead to her involvement in the Labor Day Rodeo in Bayfield. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents; brothers Burleigh and Dale Patton; sister Bea Bartholomew.

Betty is survived by her children, Joe Fahrion (Jacque), of Pagosa Springs; Pat Fahrion, of Aztec, N.M.; Mitch Fahrion (Cindy) of Surprise, Ariz.; Tammy Stout (Earl) of Meeker, Colo.; Donna “Jaylee” Powell (John) of Bayfield; grandchildren Jode, Cody, Dawn, Chris, Joe, Justin and Siarra; great-grandchildren Kyler, Kaden, Gunner, Brynn and Cash.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, at 2:30 p.m. at Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield. A Celebration of Life will be planned for the summer 2016. For information, email bettylifecelebration@gmail.com. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
