obit-sally-aragon-Scan0003Sally Aragon, 86, passed away on Dec. 4 at her home in Aztec. She was born June 14, 1929, in Rosa, N.M., to Joe D. Maez and Andrea G. Maez. Sally had four children, Johnny and Bobby Rivas, and Gary and Lottie Aragon.

She was a certified nurse’s aid at Mercy Hospital; she also owned and operated a child care service for over 30 years. She was a devoted Christian and her family was top priority always. She had a love for capturing memories of people, places and, most importantly, family. She had a strong passion for all hotrods, but ’57 Chevys were her favorite. She loved springtime and all the flowers that came with it. She also loved the fall colors; the reds and the yellows and the trees changing. She was a silly woman with a lot of love to give.

“For no word will be impossible with God.” Luke 1:37

Sally was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Joe D. Maez Jr., Leonard A. Maez and Johnny F. Maez. She is survived by her sons, Johnny Rivas, Bobby Rivas and Gary Aragon; daughter Lottie Ann Aragon; sister Josie Maez; grandchildren Jennifer, Kegan, Robbi, Joshua, DJ, Valerie, Janessa, Melissa, Rony, Vanessa, Fernando and Paul; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at the Summit Church, 1200 E. 30th St. in Farmington, with Pastor Buddy officiating. Burial will follow after the service in Rosa Cemetery. Pallbearers are Kegan Aragon, Mark Maez, Easia Anaya, Fernando Tapia, Josh Mendoza and D.J. Mendoza. Honorary pallbearers are Rob Mendoza, Jeff Anaya, Rick Maez and Troy Maxon. Memorial flowers may be sent to Summit Church.

Sally’s care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec, 405 S. Main Ave., (505) 334-9332. Those who wish to express their condolences may do so at serenityandcompany.com.
