DSC_5123eElmer Schettler, formerly of Carroll, Iowa, and recently of Pagosa Springs, Colo., left his physical body on Nov. 14, 2015.

In his last peaceful hours, he was watched over by his wife Anne Kautzky; children Steve, Renee and Sara; and grandson Nik.  Elmer was also survived by an adopted granddaughter Laken and great granddaughter Kylie along with numerous friends, family (many who were not blood-related) and relatives.

Born in 1943, Elmer’s personal and career life gave him many “opportunities.”  Early on in his adulthood, he recognized the value life’s lessons and told the universe to “bring it on.”  It is with this fearless and love-for-life attitude along with his core values of honesty and integrity that attracted so many people to him.

Elmers career in the seed and soy product business included being CEO of Diamond Brand Seed from 1968 to 1980. CEO of Devansoy Inc., from its founding in 1992 to 2014 when he assumed the role of Chairman of the Board. Devansoy is a soy protein ingredient company that has processed non-GMO, organic and hexane-free ingredients and has grown to be the countrys leading supplier of Liquid Soy Base for the production of private-label Soymilk.

While his business accomplishments were notable, his relationship with people will be the legacy that endures. Elmer chose not to have a service of any sort, probably because he didnt want to miss out on the party. Anyone whose life was touched by Elmer knows he lived with purpose, kindness, passion, clarity and generosity.
