Special to The PREVIEW

Learn to square dance every Wednesday evening from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. beginning Oct. 14 at the Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association Clubhouse in Pagosa Springs.

In an eight-week Introduction to Square Dancing class that will run through Dec. 2, Carla Roberts will teach simple calls that are quick to learn in a fun, easygoing and free class open to families, couples and singles. Suggested age for children is at least 8 years old. Call Roberts at 903-6478 to enroll.

Square dancing in Pagosa Springs has been popular for decades as part of our western heritage. Modern western square dance continues to evolve and grow and includes many different skill levels.

In this new class, Roberts will teach at the basic level, so new dancers can quickly master enough calls (or dance steps) to experience the exhilaration of dancing in a group setting. The class focus is for everyone to have an enjoyable dance session while learning the building blocks of square dance.

To best enjoy dancing, wear comfortable clothes and clean shoes. The PLPOA Clubhouse is located at 230 Port Ave.

For more information, call Roberts at 903-6478.
