Breaking down the Archuleta School District Strategic Framework

    Over the last several weeks, The SUN has outlined the Archuleta School District’s (ASD) strategic framework.

    The final portion of the framework includes phased objectives for each of the district’s campuses, including the elementary, middle and high schools.

    Each school’s principal worked on formulating the phased objectives for the campus to include in the strategic framework.

    The district administration has stressed many times that developing the “whole student” and cultivating academic, professional, entrepreneurial, personal and civic competencies begins in the lower grade levels.

    Across all three campuses, the staff is working to implement the district framework. The administration wants to see progress in these areas beginning in elementary school, so that by the time students arrive in high school, they have a clear picture of where they are headed and feel prepared to take on a career, college or vocational school.

    “It is a very intentional process we are going through at each of the schools,” Superintendent Linda Reed said.

    Included in the objectives for each of the three schools is a tracking vehicle. The tracking vehicles will follow students through the school system and culminate into a senior’s final resume.

    The objectives also include various forms of assessment, from the NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association) testing to the ACT (American College Test) college entrance exam, as well as service learning, experiential learning and internships.
