Pagosa Great Old Broads for Wilderness will host an informative meeting with Paul Blackman, Pagosa Ranger District recreation program manager, on Monday, Aug. 17, at 6 p.m. in the East Tile Room of the Ross Aragon Community Center.

Enter the community center through the east door and the meeting room is the first one on the right. This meeting is free and open to the public.

Blackman will discuss volunteer opportunities with the Pagosa Ranger District, including participating in trail maintenance and rehabilitation (either project-based or ongoing), assisting in monitoring motorized incursions in the wilderness areas, noxious weed inventory, wildlife surveys, interpretive talks/walks and wilderness patrol. Other, more intensive research opportunities in hydrology and archaeology will be available depending on training and ability of volunteers. Blackman indicated that special projects such as restoring a damaged area of interest are also possible.
