The Board of Education of Archuleta School District 50 JT is calling for nominations of candidates for school directors to be placed on the ballot for the regular biennial school election to be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

At this election, three directors will be elected, to represent districts two, three and four. Each term is four years.

The school board held its regular meeting Tuesday, Aug. 11, where it was reported that the district has not received any petitions for the election.

Superintendent Linda Reed reported that several individuals have expressed interest in running and picked up forms, but, at this point, those petitions have not been returned.

During Tuesday’s meeting, the board passed a resolution stating that the election will be canceled if no more than three individuals have submitted nominations by the deadline.

If competition for the board does not materialize, and the election is canceled, it will save the district an estimated $30,000.
