For folks who don’t have the fortune of living in a small town, it may be difficult to comprehend why our community traditions are so important.
The Archuleta County 4-H Livestock Auction is one example of an important tradition. For many of our 4-Hers, the earnings from the annual livestock auction fund their college tuition.
Thanks to the businesses and community members who came out in full force to support our 4-H youth by bidding on 64 animals and the 4-H cake; everyone went home a champion.The enthusiasm and excitement of the auction lasted until the very last animal was sold.
Last weekend’s fair wouldn’t have been possible without numerous volunteers and our hardworking fair board which includes Sarah Martin, Lori Chavez, Melvin Chavez, Rob Keating, Randy Schnose, Betty Shahan, Lisa Jensen, Terry Schaaf, Charlotte Williams, Shelly Cox, Jason Cox and Linda Moulton. We applaud them for their dedication to continuing our county fair tradition.
Music in the Mountains was a tradition locals and visitors loved years ago when the Dave Brown family generously provided BootJack Ranch as a spectacular venue for the summer concert series.
The Durango-based music festival returned to Pagosa Springs last month with a chamber music ensemble performance at the Pagosa Lakes Clubhouse hosted by the Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association (PLPOA).
