The Upper San Juan Health Service District (USJHSD) held a special work session on Friday, July 24, to discuss the progress of the hospital’s primary care clinic.

The work session focused primarily on determining when construction on the new clinic will begin. Matt Mees, the volunteer owner’s representative for the project, stated that the earliest start date is Oct. 7.

In February of this year, the board approved a resolution determining several conditions that must be met before the project moves forward.

The resolution states six requirements, including obtaining a loan of $6 million and determining the constraints attached, adding $1 million to reserves, and acquiring a minimum of 95 percent of funding through a combination of donations, grants and the loan.
