Sophie Alicia Montoya Silva

Sophie Alicia Montoya Silva, 68, of Pagosa Springs and Bloomfield, N.M., passed away to be with her heavenly father on Monday, July 13, at her home in Bloomfield. She was born Feb. 5, 1947, in Dragerton, Utah, to Cristobal and Lilly Montoya. Sophie married Pablo Silva, her high school sweetheart, in May 1968.

She leaves behind her two sons and one daughter, Carlos Silva, Christopher Silva and Paulette Silva; grandchildren Fernado Silva, Danell Jack, Sylvia Silva, Mickey Silva and Melanie Silva; great-grandchildren Xavier Silva, Daydre Silva, Nayomi Sanchez and Cruz Silva. She also leaves behind two siblings, Presciliano Montoya and Mary Elena Montoya Martinez. Sophie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Pablo Silva.

Sophie graduated from Pagosa Springs High School in 1965. She enjoyed being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed staying busy with work. She enjoyed crocheting, going to bingo and casinos. She loved Elvis. She was a very loving person with a great heart and was very loved by family and friends. She will be greatly missed by them all.

A Catholic Mass will be held with a eulogy reading at 9:45 a.m., Mass to follow at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 31, with Father Kenny Udumka at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pagosa Springs; a reception lunch will follow at the Parish Hall.
