Multiple items belonging to Grant Mildenberger, the 33-year-old who drowned in Lake Pagosa earlier this month, have been recovered, but the investigation into what happened continues.
A boater discovered Mildenberger’s body in Lake Pagosa at approximately 11 a.m. on July 15. Prior to that, Mildenberger was last seen and heard from on July 10.
Following the recovery and an autopsy, Archuleta County Coroner Dan Keuning revealed that Mildenberger had drowned and stated that there were no signs of trauma or other suspicious findings during the autopsy. Results of toxicology tests are not available for several weeks following an autopsy.
Too, Keuning reported that it was unclear how long Mildenberger had been in the water.
According to Archuleta County Undersheriff Tonya Hamilton and Lt. George Barter, Mildenberger, who was not reported missing, left on a black mountain bike with bright blue wheels and had with him an acoustic guitar in a soft backpack case.
After receiving that information, law enforcement personnel were on the lookout for the items.
Over the last week, however, those items were recovered with the help of the public, said Hamilton.
