Special to The PREVIEW

Visitors to the Pagosa Farmers Market (PFM) are on the increase, and so is the selection of vegetables. Summer is in full swing.

At different times during the summer, the PFM will support vendors of beef, lamb, milk, eggs, vegetables, fruit, baked goods, handmade soaps, lotions, jams, jellies and preserves.

Shoppers will find the PFM at the East Side Market in downtown Pagosa Springs. Complementing the shoppers experience is the wide selection of food, music and a variety of crafts, all offered by the East Side Market.

Organic food sales have more than tripled over the past decade and increased 11 percent last year alone, to $35.9 billion.

The Pagosa Farmers Market, as well as the other 8,000 markets across the nation, aim to meet the demand for authentic, natural products assisted by the USDA challenge “know your farmer, know your food.”
