The Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District (PAWSD) officially appointed Renee Lewis as district manager during the board’s regular meeting on July 16.

Lewis was appointed as interim district manager in January, following the departure of Ed Winton who previously held the position, by the PAWSD board.

During Winton’s tenure, Lewis served as the director of operations and compliance for PAWSD. She also served as the acting district manager any time Winton was absent.

After placing Lewis in the interim manager position, the board elected to re-evaluate her position in six months’ time.

Last week’s meeting marked the six-month deadline, and Lewis explained to the board that three options were open to them, including appointing her as district manager, launching a nationwide search or advertise in the newspaper to fill the position.

Board Vice President Glenn Walsh replied that he would like to advertise in the newspaper, with that ad announcing Lewis’ appointment.
