Power restored to 4,110 Archuleta County customers

At 3:15 this morning, a raccoon climbed onto a transformer in the La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) Piedra Substation in Archuleta County, damaging an arrester and knocking 4,110 customers out of power.

By approximately 6:20 a.m., three of the four circuits affected had been restored, leaving 909 customers out of power. Crews made repairs caused by the electrocuted raccoon, tested the circuit and restored power to the remaining affected customers at 8:28 a.m.

LPEA customers are reminded to update their phone numbers with the cooperative to receive efficient response when calling in an outage 247-5786.
