Plenty to celebrate

Posted

Tomorrow and throughout the upcoming weekend, we celebrate our many freedoms.

Along with those freedoms, we celebrate the hard work, talent and accomplishments of Pagosa Springs’ numerous volunteers as we attend the events they have planned for our enjoyment.

One of the communities’ largest events is Pagosa Springs Rotary Club’s Fourth of July Parade. For 10 years, Rotarian JoAnn Laird has put her mark on this. This will be her final year as “Parade Czar.”

Laird always lives life to the fullest and recently shared a few of her special memories in an email highlighting her years with the parade, “… seeing the happy faces of every parade entry and then representing Rotary on the last float every year, with everyone jammed on the sidewalks, laughing and waving at me. I’ll take those moments to my grave.”

She hates being singled out, but she certainly deserves all of the accolades that you can give her as she drives by this year on that final parade float.
