Every Saturday is a good day to buy garden-fresh vegetables, pasture-raised beef, cheese made from local cows’ milk and other nutritious foods, and this Saturday, the Fourth of July, is no different.
The Pagosa Farmers Market is opening for the third time this season Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the East Side Market in the east side of downtown Pagosa Springs. Come down before or after the parade to peruse the selection.
At different times during the summer, the Pagosa Farmers Market will support vendors of beef, lamb, milk, eggs, vegetables, fruit, baked goods, bath products, natural salves and ointments, sunscreen, handmade soaps, lotions, jams, jellies and preserves.
As a complement, the East Side Market offers a wide selection of food to be eaten al fresco at tables and benches, with music provided, as well as a variety of crafts.
With the opening of our small town market, we can take pride in joining a movement that is nationwide and 7,800 strong. Though small in size, we offer the same important elements of community and healthy food offered by the USDA as it opened the 20th season of the USDA Farmers Market in Washington, D.C., this summer.
