Columbine Ranger District firefighters are responding to a lightning strike ignition about 2-1/2 miles east of Vallecito Reservoir on the San Juan National Forest.

The Trap Fire was reported at about 9 a.m. by firefighters stationed at the Vallecito Work Center. A fire crew hiked in and reports that only two trees are burning in an area with a low potential for spread due to ground moisture.  The crew is suppressing the fire.

A Mesa Verde National Park helicopter reconnaissance flight this morning reports no other starts at this time on the San Juan National Forest.
