A flash flood watch has been issued that includes all of Archuleta County in anticipation of another storm system moving into the area.

According to the National Weather Service, the watch will be in effect from midnight tonight (Tuesday) through Thursday evening.

The watch states that tropical moisture will reach the Four Corners region tonight, with widespread precipitation spreading south and north tonight into Wednesday and Wednesday night. Additional thunderstorms may bring heavy rain throughout the day on Thursday, as well.

The watch also warns that small streams and creeks already swollen by heavy rainfall and snowmelt runoff could quickly flow out of banks with additional heavy rainfall.

Thad McKain, Archuleta County's director of emergency management, warned that 1 to 2 inches of rain is possible, with state and local resources monitoring the situation.

McKain urged folks to be vigilant and aware, and to not hesitate to call Archuleta County Combined Dispatch at 731-2160 if a situation needs attention.
