Town to conduct second reading of marijuana ordinance

The second reading of Ordinance 825, which will allow for the licensing and regulation of marijuana businesses within the town boundaries of Pagosa Springs, will occur at this evening’s town council meeting, and, if it is approved, then the town could begin issuing licenses in September.

Since the beginning of the year, Town Manager Greg Schulte has brought several questions before council in an effort to craft these rules and regulations, which are based on those adopted earlier by the Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners for the unincorporated areas of the county.

Throughout this process, the only members of the public to speak up when Mayor Don Volger asked for public comment have been people voicing support and appreciation for the effort.
