Several years ago, when City Market closed its doors on the corner of 8th and San Juan streets and rumors began to circulate that Walmart was interested in building a new super center somewhere uptown, residents of downtown Pagosa Springs faced the very real possibility that they would never again enjoy the services of a full-sized grocery store in their neighborhood.
That fate is no longer certain.
