Sobering facts: The issue of underage drinking

This week, in recognition of April being the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence’s (NCADD) Alcohol Awareness Month, the Health Policy and Systems program at San Juan Basin Health is seeking to highlight the important public health issue of underage drinking.

Alcohol use by young people is extremely dangerous — both to themselves and to society, and is directly associated with traffic fatalities, violence, suicide, educational failure, alcohol overdose, unsafe sex and other problem behaviors.
