Supporting our students

Posted

Last Saturday, the Archuleta School District held a community engagement session to seek out ideas about how the professional and business community of Archuleta County could support student success.

Support for the school board’s effort was evidenced by all of the tables filling up for the event.

Sample questions were broken into three categories to provide discussion starting points for the participants.

For the community:

What value does the business community have for our students?

What value does student success have for our business community?

What types of programs (teaching, internships, field trips, etc.) do you think could support student success, and what capacity do you/your business have to be involved?

What do you see as obstacles to supporting student success?

What are your concerns in regard to the issue?

How would you insure that student involvement with your business is meaningful?

How could nonprofits be involved?
