obit-day-photoPaul A. Day, of Pagosa Springs, born May 10, 1929, went to heaven on Feb. 21, 2015, at the age of 85. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Chester and Lola Day, and sister, Christina Day. He is survived by his wife, Etta Faye, of 61 years; daughter Paulette, and Raymond Hise; son Rocky, and Kelli Day; daughter Tracy and Greg Lucero; and son Ben, and Sherri Day; grandchildren Daniel, Jeanne and Nathan, Roxanna and Jake, Beth, Caleb and Shelby. Paul served his country in the Navy during the Korean War on the USS George Clymer. His passion was taking care of his family and running the business he loved.

Day Lumber was started in 1926 in Salem, Mo. and moved to Pagosa Springs by Paul, Vernon and their dad, Chester, in 1946. They logged, sawed and sold the lumber themselves. The lumber business was his passion.

His family was his life. He was a man that touched many people with his wit, humor and caring heart. He will be greatly missed.

Due to circumstances, the family will be holding a private graveside service. At a later date there will be a public memorial service, when Etta Faye can be present.
