Special to The PREVIEW

The Archuleta County Relay for Life (RFL) kickoff event was a great success, with standing-room-only attendance.

Thanks to all the returning relayers and welcome to all the new participants. Due to the high level of attendance, registration doubled for both participants and teams. There was a lot of energy in the room and RFL is off to a great start.

Do you have a group at work, in your neighborhood, at your church or social group that you can pull together to form a team? If not, you are welcome to join any of the other teams already participating.

To register, go to www.archuletarelay.org or contact Paul Lehmann at 507-0345 or Deb Jennings at (720) 563-1519. Let’s keep getting survivors, teams and participants signed up.

When RFL organizers Lehmann and Valerie Hargis asked those present who had been affected by cancer in their own life or a family member or friend, everyone in the room stood.

RFL events have been going on for 30 years nationwide. Archuleta County has been participating for 18 years, with five people having walked for each of those 18 years. What an accomplishment to be proud of.

The team meetings will be held the third Monday of each month from 6 to 7 p.m. at The Springs Resort conference room. The first meeting will be held on Monday, March 16.

“Get Well Stay Well — Find a Cure.”

Come join the fight against cancer on June 13 from noon to 10 p.m. at Town Park.
