Volunteers: The heart of our community

For many people, plunging into the icy cold waters of the San Juan River in the dead of winter — even the mildest of winters — is unfathomable.

Yet, during last Sunday’s Penguin Plunge, 18 people volunteered to do the unthinkable — for charity. Several area nonprofits benefited from the selflessness and senselessness of these plungers. The plungers raised over $10,000 for the nonprofits they serve.

If you look, you’ll find many individuals jumping in to volunteer throughout our community, but not all of them are recovering from frostbite this week.
