Weather may delay Reservoir Hill thinning project

The Reservoir Hill forest-thinning project, tentatively scheduled to begin this month, has been delayed until the weather becomes more cooperative.

“Right now it’s really soft up there,” Pagosa Springs Parks Superintendent Jim Miller explained. “Ideally, you want to do it when there’s enough snow that you’re just staying on top of the snow, but there isn’t enough snow — and the ground isn’t frozen deep enough — to keep the machinery from leaving big ruts.”
