This week, Pagosans David and Jean Smith arrived in the West African country of Senegal to begin three weeks of hands-on training of science teachers in three rural high schools where science textbooks, equipment and supplies are virtually non-existent.
The Smiths took with them supplies and equipment to enable these teachers to teach their students the basics of biology, chemistry and physics. Prior to the Smiths arrival in Africa, basic science textbooks had been delivered to these three schools, where no textbooks existed previously.
