Frank Gilbert Mestas was born on Oct. 11, 1928, to Adolfo and Sedelia Mestas in Manassa, Colo.
He married the love of his life, Emily Cantu, on Nov. 15, 1948, in Antonito, Colo. They raised six children: Adolph Mestas (Carol), Kathy Vega (Roy), Lou Mestas, Frank Mestas (Christine), Michael Mestas (Rosemarie) and Patricia Milioto (Greg). Their son, Alfonso Mestas, sadly died shortly after birth.
Frank loved sharing his memories of his job as a truck driver hauling produce, mail carrier to ranchers in the Upper Piedra for the United States Postal Service, working for the Forest Service and working as a forklift operator at San Juan Lumber.
He is the beloved grandfather to 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers A.C. Mestas and Alfonso Mestas, sister Dora Cullens and great-grandchild Alyssa Talamante.
He will be sorely missed by his many family and friends, but we are all comforted knowing he went safely home and will be watching over us. Como los hombres!
