Winter storm: A job well done

Posted

This week’s storm brought back memories of the winters that longtime Pagosans experienced in “the good old days.”

There was enough snow for school officials to cancel classes for the day, which left many locals saying, “They used to never cancel school when I went to school here.”

According to La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) spokesperson Indiana Reed, “Heavy, wet snow on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, contributed to one of the most challenging days faced by La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) Operations personnel in at least a decade. The perfect storm of water-laden snow that adhered to trees and LPEA’s equipment resulted in some 2,389 individual outages (some repeated through the day) ranging in size from one to more than 1,000 customers throughout LPEA’s service territory between 3 a.m. and 5 p.m.”
