While a large number of power outages continue to occur in both Archuleta and La Plata counties, La Plata Electric Association is reporting that many of the large outages have been repaired and power restored.
The last remaining large outage in the western portion of Archuleta County was repaired and power restored at 1:30 p.m. LPEA spokesperson Indiana Reed said that outage affected anyone fed by the Ponderosa Substation located near the Parelli Ranch and affected about 2,000 people.
Crews are also tending to several smaller outages throughout the service area. As of 1:30 p.m., over 4,700 people remained without power.
Reed said there are numerous downed trees and broken poles due to the weight of the snow, and called today the worst single day of power outages in years.
