Save the date -for Oktoberfest 2014 — Sunday, Oct. 19, at the The View Restaurant in the Quality Resort, from 5 to 8 p.m.

This is a fun event for the whole family, with dancing, singing, food and drinks (cash bar).

Music will be provided by our local Paukenschlagel Band.

Tickets in advance: adult $12 and $5 for children 5 to 12 years; at the door: adults $15 and $7, respectively. Each ticket includes a choice of one serving of food, beer, wine or other nonalcoholic beverage. Advance tickets may be purchased at the Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at Colorado Café, Higher Grounds Coffee and the Chamber of Commerce. Call 264-2167 for information.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels volunteers are needed one day a week from 10:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. to deliver to our homebound seniors. Afterwards, enjoy our chef’s lunch for free and the great feeling of having helped seniors in our community. Must be willing to undergo a background check. Open enrollment

Prescription Drug Plan Open Enrollment is Oct. 15 to Dec 7. This is your opportunity to continue with your current prescription drug plan or choose a new one.

Let us help you evaluate your options so you can make informed choices, know your rights and save money.

Call us at 264-0502 to schedule an appointment with a SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) counselor (appointments are available on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.).

Memberships

Senior Discount Club Memberships are now offered Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Menu

If you are a senior (60 years and older), for only a $4 suggested donation, you are eligible for a hot meal, drink and salad bar.

The guest fee for those 59 and under is $10 and children 10 years and under are $5 each.

All meals include salad bar. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 9 — Beef pot pie, roasted vegetables, whole wheat roll and melon medley.

Friday, Oct. 10 — Crunchy baked catfish, oven-browned potatoes, coleslaw, stewed tomatoes and okra and whole wheat roll.

Monday, Oct. 13 — Kitchen closed for Columbus Day — pot luck followed by bingo and Mexican train.

Tuesday, Oct. 14 — Beef burgers, parsley potatoes, baked beans and watermelon.

Wednesday, Oct. 15 — Vegetarian and/or meat pizza and apple/banana slices.

Thursday, Oct. 16 — Roast pork loin, sweet potatoes, veggie blend, whole wheat roll and apple crisp.

Reservations and cancellations are required. You can make a reservation at 264-2167 by 9 a.m. the morning of the day you would like to dine in the Community Café at the Pagosa Springs Senior Center.

For your convenience, you can make your reservations in advance or have a standing reservation on days you know you will always attend.

Please cancel if you cannot attend on your standing reservation days. We want to thank everyone for their support by observing our reservation policy. This helps ensure that everyone with reservations receives a meal and enables us to provide additional and healthier meals to our seniors.
