obit-Gurule,-M-croppedMary Gurule passed away Oct. 4 at the University of Colorado Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. at Pope John Paul II Catholic Church in Pagosa Springs, with reception to follow. Burial will occur at 2 p.m. at Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield following the Mass.

Mary was born to Cresencio and Deliria Gonzales in Dulce, N.M., on June 8, 1939. She had three siblings who were all born in Dulce. She met and married the love of her life, Jose F. Gurule, in Pagosa Springs. She raised three children and greatly enjoyed her grandchild and her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, traveling and cooking for her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose F. Gurule; a brother, Louis Gonzales, of Durango; and one sister, Dora Gurule, of Aztec, N.M.

She is survived by her three children: Pressie Gurule, of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; Sedrick Gurule, of Farmington, N.M.; and Lorraine Gurule, of Pagosa Springs. She is also survived by grandson Cory Gurule, two great-grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.
