Katherine Scott Sturdevant will be the guest speaker at the Archuleta County Genealogical Society meeting scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4, at 10 a.m. in the Community United Methodist Church on Lewis Street. The meeting is open to the public.

Sturdevant is professor of history at Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs and has been teaching family history for about 25 years. Sturdevant’s presentation will cover gathering your family’s historical materials: home sources, artifacts, oral history and tradition. She will also discuss researching your family’s historical record: Native Americans and other mysteries. The third topic will be writing your family history in historical context: social history and inference.
