Save the date for Oktoberfest, to be held on Sunday, Oct. 19, at the Quality Resort from 5 to 8 p.m.

This is a fun event for the whole family with dancing, singing, food and drinks (cash bar).

Music will be provided by our local Paukenschlagel band.

Tickets in advance are $12 for adults and $5 for children 5 to 12 years old; at the door, tickets for adults are $15 and children are $7, respectively.

Each ticket includes a choice of one serving of food, beer, wine or other non-alcoholic beverage.

Advance tickets may be purchased at the Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Tickets are also available at Colorado Café, Higher Grounds Coffee and at the Chamber of Commerce. Call 264-2167 for information.

Meals on Wheels volunteers needed

Meals on Wheels volunteers are needed one day a week from 10:45 to 12:45 to deliver to our homebound seniors.

Afterwards, enjoy our chef’s lunch for free and the great feeling of having helped seniors in our community.

Volunteers must be willing to undergo a background check. Please call 264-2167 for more information or to sign up.

Open enrollment

Prescription Drug Plan Open Enrollment is Oct. 15 to Dec 7. This is your opportunity to continue with your current prescription drug plan or choose a new one.

Call us at 264-0502 to schedule an appointment with a SHIP counselor (appointments are available on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.).

Memberships

Senior Discount Club Memberships are now offered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to2 p.m.

Menu

If you are a senior (60 years and older), for only a $4 suggested donation, you are eligible for a hot meal, drink and our wonderful salad bar prepared by our fabulous kitchen staff.

The guest fee for those 59 and under is $10 and children 10 years and under are $5 each.

All meals include salad bar. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 25 — Beef stew, biscuit and fruit salad.

Friday, Sept. 26 — Stir-fry shrimp, brown rice, orange/pineapple salad and fortune cookie.

Monday, Sept. 29 — Turkey sandwich with lettuce and tomato on whole grain bread, chicken noodle soup and melon salad.

Tuesday, Sept. 30 — Beef stroganoff, spinach fettuccine, green beans, whole wheat roll and fruit.

Wednesday, Oct. 1 — Grilled chicken with berry sauce, baked potato, broccoli and fruit salad.

Thursday, Oct. 2 — Stuffed cabbage rolls, asparagus and carrots, orange salad and bran muffin.

Reservations and cancellations are required. You can make a reservation at 264-2167 by 9 a.m. the morning of the day you would like to dine in the Community Café at the Pagosa Springs Senior Center.

For your convenience, you can make your reservations in advance or have a standing reservation on days you know you will always attend. Please cancel if you cannot attend on your standing reservation days. This helps ensure that everyone with reservations receives a meal.
