Special to The SUN

This month’s San Juan BackCountry Horsemen program is the annual election for officers and directors, followed by practice tying knots.

Come and learn new knots while sharing your favorite knots with others. Please bring at least one 3-foot length of rope.

Social time for the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Archuleta County Fairgrounds Extension building on U.S. 84, a quarter mile south of Pagosa Springs. The meeting and presentation will start at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Our BCH chapter has adopted Anderson Trail for trail maintenance under an agreement with the Pagosa Ranger District to keep the trail in shape for all users, including equestrians. Our members have been also active on several local trails maintaining them and using our packing skills. We’ll be working in the 50th Wilderness Celebration tents in Durango on Sept. 27.

Please come enjoy some chili on Sept. 15 and see what’s happening.
