Department of Education releases TCAP results

Data released last month by the Colorado Department of Education indicated that, for the most part, local students improved in reading, remained steady in writing, but got worse in math.

For the reading test at the elementary school, students scoring in the proficient or advanced range for the third grade went from 62.5 percent in 2013 to 71.59 percent in 2014. For the fourth grade it went from 62 to 67.83 percent.

At the middle school, for fifth grade it went from 57.14 to 58 percent. For the sixth grade it went down from 69.81 to 58 percent. For the seventh grade it went from 66.36 to 69.52 percent. For the eighth grade it went from 68.82 to 73.15 percent.
