obit-Hanson-Colburn-Obit-PhotoJesse James Hanson-Colburn, 34, passed away the week of Aug. 12, in Archuleta County. A celebration on his life will be held 13 miles south on Trujillo Road at Trujillo Church, St. James mission at 1 p.m. on Aug. 30.

Jesse was born April 21, 1980, in Juanita, Colo., the son of Jack Colburn and Jeanne Hanson-Colburn. He grew up on Trujillo Road in Archuleta County. They lived in Alaska for a short time, where Jack’s life was taken.

Jesse completed his education in Pagosa Springs, where he fell in love with the written word, masonry, blacksmithing and ranch work. His talent for masonry is reflected in many sites in Eagles Nest, N.M., Durango and Pagosa Springs.

Jesse enjoyed all aspects of the outdoors. He understood, loved and respected nature; he was a true mountain man.

He is survived by his mother, Jeanne Hanson-Colburn, of Trujillo Road; a son, Jackson Creel, of Grand Junction; four half brothers: Greg, Jeff, Matt and Toby Colburn; his aunts: Jessica Hanson, Vicki Brim, Christy Hanson, Donna, Sara Pipes; his uncle, Paul Hanson; as well as extended family and many friends.
