Lowell ‘Mike’ Bell

obit-Bell,-LLowell O. “Mike” Bell passed away Aug. 17 in Durango at the age of 83. He was born on Aug. 16, 1931, in Viburnum, Mo., to Henry and Letha Bell. His family moved to Pagosa Springs in 1947, where they worked for Day Lumber Company. He married Twilah L. (Montroy) Bell on August 16, 1949, in Sante Fe. They moved to Durango in 1955, where they raised three sons: Ronald, Micky and Dale. Mike was a policeman for the City of Durango and reached the position of sergeant. He then worked for Weidman Sawmill hauling logs with his own trucks. After Weidman sold out, he drove freight trucks for ONC Freight Company.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Twilah Bell, of Durango, sons Ronald (Barbara) Bell, of Dayton, Ore., Micky (Debbie) Bell, of Ignacio, and Dale Bell. He has four grandchildren, Christine Graham and family, of Austin and Bayfield; Michelle Lengal and husband Travis, of Aztec, N.M.; Shawn Bell and family, of Arizona; Lori Fuller and family, of Texas. He is also survived by numerous siblings, nieces and nephews.
