Archuleta School District’s teachers spend an extensive amount of time conducting a textbook adoption review, which is completed on a five-year cycle.

Pagosa Springs High School and Middle School mathematics teachers, parents and students completed a five-year review of textbook materials during the 2013-2014 school year.

In addition to teachers, parents and students reviewing the proposed textbook materials, district policy requires the community be allowed to review the adoption materials.

While sixth- through eighth-grade math will continue with the “Connected Math Project” textbook series, fifth grade and ninth through 12th grades will be adopting new textbooks.

The purchases of the new textbooks were pending the approval of the 2014-2015 district budget by the school board during its June meeting and will be presented to the board for recommended adoption at its regular board meeting on Aug. 12.

The selected textbooks will be available for public review in the district administration office conference room until Aug. 12. Community members wanting to review the textbooks may do so between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3  p.m., Monday through Friday.

Should you have any questions concerning the textbook adoption process, please contact David Hamilton at 264-2228, ext. 405  or email dhamilton@pagosa.k12.co.us.
